Contenders for new style Semperit Irish Car of the Year 2009

The list of candidates for the 2009 Semperit Irish Car of the Year awards has been announced by the Irish Motoring Writers Association.  The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin 9, on Friday, November 21. 

Mayo athlete nominated in the 2008 National Athletics Awards

One of Mayo’s top young athletes is in with a chance of walking away with an award at next weekend’s Athletics Ireland National Athletics Awards. Pamela Hughes from Westport AC is nominated following her impressive performances this season. The second annual National Athletics Awards, which are in association with Waterford Crystal, will honour the best Irish athletes, clubs and coaches from across the country.

Gowran have novice champions

Gowran athletes were very much to he fore at the Kilkenny novice championships in Kilmacow on Sunday. In the ladies 3K race it was sisters, Maria and Gretta who were first and second respectively. They set a steady pace from the start and there was never really a doubt but that they would share the first two places. With Lisa Kennedy in fifth place the Gowran club captured the Novice Shield. Sarah Dollard, St Senan’s was third, Elaine O’Reilly, Thomastown was fourth and Tracey Malone, St Joseph’s was sixth.

Berlingo and Partner share Irish Van of the Year title

The Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Partner have jointly been voted Semperit Irish Van of the Year 2009 by the Irish Motoring Writers Association (IMWA). The announcement was made at an awards ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, attended by leading figures from the motor industry.  The Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Partner finished ahead of the Fiat Fiorino and the Citroen Nemo / Peugeot Bipper.
